Illustration Friday - TATTOO

As far as tattoos go, the old pin-up style is one of my favorites. Here's a pin-up design with a modern surfer girl twist.

Created in Adobe Illustrator.

Nice work! The design on the board itself would also make a good tattoo!

Lovely. I really like those waves and she's such a sweet pin up gal. Wonderful job - this would make a grea tattoo.

Hey, again, Amy! Funny that we tuned into each other simultaneously! Regarding your question: It wasn't a filter, but rather a shadow, making it look like light and then I pummeled it repeatedly with one of those Photoshop splatter brushes in light yellow.

By the way, I love your 'insect,' too. Beautiful work. I've yet to master (or even become a mere novice of) Illustrator. But I AM a total honey addict.

Hi Amy - Thanks for your comment on my "senseless art." It was really a strange expereince! I'm like you...I often do a lot of research before I do something. I often work off of photographs for models to get the details and proportions correct, etc. You asked about the size - it's a 12 x 12 canvas. I scanned it in 2 pieces and then put it back together in photoshop. As far as finding the time to do 2 challeneges...it's a challenge. But, it gives me a push to do more art instead of sayin to myself that I'm too busy. It's been really energizing for me.

Cute! I was going to say that the surf looks like tattooed, too!

Love the style here! One of the folks commenting on my blog said her father has a pin-up style tattoo of a cowgirl sitting on a fence... As he's gotten older, the girl has begun to get chunkier. Great work, Amy.

I really like your clean style, especially in your Song Final. you have a very clean and bright style that I admire, something like what I try for, but I end up going very dark and obscure by the end. Keep it up!
