wow great sketch! you've captured his pic perferctly! i remember him as one of the Allman Brothers Band..
Rollings Stones Mag once quoted "..Allman was one of the true innovators of the electric guitar to rise in the Sixties; arguably on a par with Hendrix.."
So cool! This has a real Bob Masse rock poster look. It's funny...I just came across a program from an Allman Brother's show I saw at the Filmore East in 1971! Okay...I was pretty young, but that was a looooong time ago! You did a super job on this. I like it a lot.
Thanks for your comments on my IF piece this week. To answer your question about technique: It's done mostly in Illustrator and finished off in Photoshop. I started with a simple black line drawing with the pencil tool, and then I worked over it with a gazillion layers. I always use a lot of layers in case I mess something up. I also like being able to move things around easily. The hair shapes were colored with the gradient mesh and I added simple outlined shapes on top to get the wild wavy look. I did the background in Photoshop using the mezzotint filter...short lines, I think. I usually just play around and see where it takes me!
