CAKE and Inspire Me Thursday ~ Word Art

When I saw "Cake" as this week's topic, I thought about just how many different types of cakes there are, and felt drawing just one kind wouldn't be too exciting. So I tried to come up with a way to incorporate multiple cakes, and wound up not drawing even one (unless you count the one being made).

Thanks to Carla at Anonyrrie for giving me the idea to use this illustration for both "Cake" and Inspire Me Thursday's "Word Art" challenge. More often than not, I incorporate typography/lettering into my designs, and it seemed appropriate that I participate.

Colored pencils and Micron pens.

Your hand done type is really great. I like the concept and illustration of the cake one, but I LOVE the C that is underneath it. It really is beautiful.

Thanks for your great comments BTW.

I like how you incorporated the woman preparing the cake in addition to the lettering. I too went through similar thoughts when I saw the prompt.

This is great!

Another beautiful illustration, Amy. Very accurate drawing, and I like the soft pastel colors that you chose. Thanks so much for your kind comments about Trowbridge. I DO plan on bringing Mrs. T back as often as possible. I enjoy IF so much I couldn't stay away forever.

beautiful and fun illustration, the fact that you don't know what cake she is making also makes it more exiting. nice work!

This is a really lovely piece. She looks so contented stirring her cake mixture. Such lovely colours too. It looks digital, but I know it's not, it's so interesting how you got the texture on the table to sit so well with the sharpness of the words inside the big 'Cake'. And I love the subtle shading around the stuff on the table too. Very very nice.

...oh, and can i lick the spoon?

Yes, but if you mixed all the ingredients for all those different types of cakes together, you'd probably get something interesting.

A-ha! All in one! Nice thought.

I love how soft and inviting your picture is. As delicious as the cake-making looks though it's the words that really make me hungry. Nice piece!

Great idea and really well-executed. I like the whole thing, but I'm especially drawn to the cool wavy hair... Don't know why... maybe a hair fetish or something. Very cool.
