"O Death, rock me asleep, Bring me to quiet rest, Let pass my weary guiltless ghost Out of my careful breast."
Once I found this Anne Boleyn quote for "Ghost," the rest sort of fell into place. Anne was notorious not only for being Queen Consort of King Henry VIII (and mother of Queen Elizabeth I), but also for her beheading on charges of adultery and treason on 19 May 1536. Once I nailed down this concept for my "Ghost" entry, it all felt creepy and very Halloween-appropriate.
Anne's ghost was created with Micron pens and colored pencils.

Wow, that's amazing. As always your lettering is great. Love it! It is really poignant that you have used a real quote from Anne Boleyn.

Excellent craftsmanship Amy! Yowch--hope it was quick and painless for the poor woman.
Once again you have come up with a unique take on the topic! Excellent and you are really scaring me now!!!
you always amaze me with your drawing abilities and this makes no exception...like the colours range as well...tnx for your comment and suggestion...guess I should find the way to finance the ghosts of my old adventures on the internet?

I don't think anyone having their head cut off is ever REALLY painless. Ask Robespierre... your illustration is very original.
Great attention to detail. Your ability to capture the period with color choices and lettering is second to none. Great work!

Love all the detail and the lettering. Beautiful work, and I had no idea that she was quoted as saying that.

This is fabuous in every way, Amy! I love the engraved look of the drawing and the lettering...it makes me think of a fancy vintage book plate. I also love the Anne Boleyn reference. She is a compelling personage, and that time period in Engalnd's history has always fascinated me. Well done!!!
Beautiful work! Inspiring :)
I second Carla's comment and all the rest- Love it!
Can tell you really enjoyed creating this. You brought her back to life so well - and nice touch with the B necklace(less?)- haha -she managed somehow not to part with it.
Very halloween in black and orange! As always I love your calligraphy, and the decorative flares.
What? No love for Bloody Mary? Now she'll haunt your dreams...just like Billy Bush from Access Hollywood haunts mine. Sweet illo as always Amy Zed.
Kinda macabre. But, I think that's the point. Great illo. I especially like the lettering. I wasn't quite sure who Anne Boleyn was (I should have known), so I looked her up on wikipedia. Your illo looks just like her.
Absolutely beautiful! Such rich detail.
Amy, you have such amazing lettering skills. It's very decorative and fits so well with the illustration. She's scary! Great illustration -- it gives me the creeps!

You know, I'm thinking that beheading was a bit harsh. Don't you? :-)
Like your drawing!
Gorgeous lettering and flourishes, Amy. And the image is beautiful. Creepy!
Beautifully drawn and rendered, Amy. I always look forward to seeing your pages.
I've been away for a while so I missed this one. This is great! I'm a little biased since I see it as the aftermath of my drawing from "fat."
:P
Happy New Year!
