This Saturday is the Autumn Equinox, when the sun crosses the equator, causing day and night to be of equal length. This day marks the coming of winter, when days are shorter and nights are longer. The Equinox is a symbol of balance, but also one of change.
On a somewhat related note, I found this quote about change, which I like very much:
"All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another."

Aha! I get to be first! I love the lettering...it makes me think of druid rituals or something, and I love the division of the page to symbolize the equinox. The colors are rich and earthy, like autumn, and the quote captures that bittersweet feeling of the coming season. Wonderful work, Amy:>
Exquisite lettering and I love the perfect balance in design and colors to symbolise the equinox. Beautiful piece of work, wow!
Beautiful and charming! I love the whole cycle of this planet.
hi amy
this would make a great book cover design..! :-) love it, especially the starry night sky.
That's a beautiful quote and really sums up how I'm feeling - you too so it seems. Good luck on your big leap and thanks for you supportive comments about mine. :)
great choice for the theme. Very cool graphic design, and the quote really says quite well what change is all about. But then, I get really melancholy this time of year...
Enchanting, very romantic :)
I love this quote, I'm saving it!
The illustrator art is LOVELY! I want to do this! I have the program! I am clueless! Is there an "Illustrator for Dummies" book??
very nice illustrator illo!! Lovely works!
LOVE that quote. :-)
amy, this is beautiful! and so is the quote, very appropriate! of course, it's 75 degrees today, so not very autumn-like, but by monday it will only be in the high 50s or so. oh, and to answer your question, murphy is my cat, my only child!
amy, i love love love what you do with letters and boxes. (as you know!). here the colors are so richly autumn and your lines and lettering so exequitely balanced.
i agree that this kind of work would make a great cover for a book or anykind of design!

VERY wicked piece of art Amy. Autumn is my favorite season. I love the smell of fall and the colors that the dying leaves turn into. Maybe there's something to that quote?
